I think 23% is just a bit high myself... But, if you retire your females after a year, you probably won't see any loss in production.. The males will be the ones that will show signs first. But, if you're like me, I don't let the males get huge anyway, I switch them out when they get fat and lazy...

Thats what I do with my dog's food. I have a 18 gallon tote.... it holds easly 50 pounds of food. I store it near the dogs house so its underneath my house. It stays cool and moist under the house. But Ive had no problems about the feed going bad.... as long as you hear the snap, snap when closing.

Lol those things are like 40 gallon totes. But I do the same.

Are all of you dumping the food bag in to the tubs or garbage cans or are just placing the open bag in the container?

What about about all of the dust (crushed block) at the bottom of the bag? Are you screening that out?

    Thanks.

I put bag and all into the container, just cut the top off. I'm sure that's some cardinal sin somehow.

I send the dust in the bottom to a pal who raises feeder roaches, he says they love the stuff and I have no use for it.

I dump in three bags at a time.. But that only last a couple of days at most for me. When I get a bunch of small bits in the bottom, I take it out, mix it with some doggie bag food and powdered milk, run it through a coffee grinder, and use it for roach/cricket/mealworm feed...
