My philosophy is pretty similar. I let mine settle in for a day or three, feed, and then leave alone for another two to three days, which takes care of the "hands-off" period. :)

I also would feed him/her now and then give him/her a couple days to digest. Then you will be good to start handling him/her. Good luck and enjoy your new addition.

There, I got a better shot of her, now that she's happily gotten water all over her tub
She's striking a little bit less now, in favor of huffing every time I tinker with her tub (apparently soda box ends are the only at-hand hide things I've got. Hitting the store for some snake food tomorrow anyways, so I'll get hides that fit better in her tub).

Get some small plastic cereal bowls at the dollar store and then solder out an entrance. Inexpensive and effective. :)

I don't have a soldering iron T_T I thought I still had one of those wood-burner pen things, but I can't find it, and a heated screwdriver can only do so much XD At worst I'll get her a couple of the extra-small hamster igloos. She's certainly not going to be the only young snake I'll ever have, so they'll be worth the couple dollars.

A patient hand and an exacto blade work too.

But if you have a craft store nearby, you can't beat having a tool they call a Versa-tool at your disposal for making and modifying snake tubs. They only cost about $25 and have all sorts of useful tips like blades and hole making tips. It gets hot you see, and will make cutting doors out of cereal bowls a breeze.

Wow, I'll definitely have to keep that versa-tool in mind, it sounds really handy. For now, apparently we had a giant stash of kid's Sesame street paper bowls in the pantry which are perfect-size for her.

I got her to eat! It was a bit interesting, since the shop only had mice in her size, and she apparently already prefers rats, but I got her to eat it. The hopper was still a bit small for her, but I'll be getting her some proper-sized rats this weekend.

Snagged one more shot of her today. She was definitely grumpy about it, but she's not trying to strike at the camera anymore. Also, I love the betta staring at her XD There's a really good light on that table, so I moved her there for the photo, and mister Jason back there got all curious.

Good luck with her! She already looks happier. I bet she will be a very good eater:gj:

I love the snappy ones, they tend to be the best eaters. Congrats!
