Of course those stats shouldn't include my normal male who's a garbage disposal...or my boa who eats anything that dangles in his tub :) But my other 2 that require it, it's usually a good 70-80% chance they eat it overnight when no ones looking...

Well...if it works for my Black Pastel girl, I'll owe you one!

Thanks for all of the replies! I think I may give it a shot with my one shy feeder and see how she does.

I attempted (a bit too early, it would seem) to feed my new boy, Samedi, the other day - I dangled it on tongs and he took a strike at it, but missed and apparently scared himself into not striking again. This being my first attempt, I'm still not sure what his eating quirks are, so I decided to leave it at the entrance of his hide over night annd...

...Nothing. ._. He appeared very interested for a while, as I sneakily watched him in the dark across the room, but he never went for it. I'm not sure how long to wait before I try again, but I really enjoy reading about everyone's methods - hopefully I'll find something that works for this guy soon!

It works well for our one shy BP, and our one shy BRB.

It did not work well when my hognose female acted defensive around thawed feeders.. she just flat out refused for a while (until she had a change of heart out of the blue and now pounds her feeders).

It's worth trying and finding out if it's a reliable method for a particularly difficult feeder. One wasted rat finding out if it works for a specific snake is no biggie, but if you're wasting feeders on half or more of your attempts, I wouldn't opt for this method.
