    Haha, my boyfriend has the same dream of a bright green ball python. I just don't know if it's in their genes though! We saw a super incredible green ghost at the expo though, as well as a really green tinted mojave, so he's determined to one day try to line breed for more green pigment. If it does work it could be pretty cool, but would be more forest green.

    Thats a big negatory, super black pastel albinos are solid white.... axanthic and albino make snow.... doesn't matter what you do to darken the snake to get the red eyes requires some form of albinism and that will eliminate the darker coloring. novel Idea but with the genetics we currently have thats all I think it will be an idea

    The key phrase above is that with the current genetics we are aware of, we cannot at the moment make that animal. However, there are differences in skin cells and eye cells. This is apparent in the case of Leucistics. The pigment exists, but the leucophores (cells in the skin that hold pigment) do not, and hence the blue or black eyes. As Lawrence stated above, red eyes typically come from a lack of melanin. However, with my statement above about differing cells in the eyes and skin, I think that one day it may be possible to manipulate eye color and skin color seperately. But, not yet. Many things yet to be done or figigured out with Ball pythons and snakes/reptiles/amphibians in general.
