they don't always, it depends on the parents. i've seen pastels hold their colors in adulthood. My pastel is 2 years old and when he sheds he's still pretty bright. IMO BP's are never as pretty as they are when they are babies. :)

a year or less and those pastels will start to brown out. you really want to look for as much yellow as possible when shoping for pastels. the orange is what changes to brown as the animal grows.

It depends on the pastel gene then. Take a look at what the parent pastel looks like and go from there. A poster above suggests that its the orange that browns out, I bought my pastels as adults so I can't attest to their growth:loss of color.
There's a video from Brian Gundy that I found on his youtube channel that shows a super pastel and a pastel in lock, so that you can get an idea. I'll PM the link to you as I am pretty sure its against the rules of the forum to post other peoples videos/ pictures without their permission.

Nice!
I think you'll end up happiest if you go with your 'gut instinct' and stick with the pinstripe, but that's just me. When it comes to picking out ball pythons it's tough to pick 'just' one since there's so many beauties out there---esp. when the wife only lets you have just one (hope you're not stuck in that boat too, lol).

I disagree when it comes to lessers! I love the way their colors form as adults..stunning! But I do agree with pastels :(
