I ran two Helix proportional tstats off of my generator this past winter for about 2-3 hours. They flickered and reset themselves a lot , but my snakes stayed warm and the tstats have been on 24/7 since and remain in good working condition.

I don't recommend trying this, just FYI :P

Power is now out. Generator is now running. Not going to worry about the incubator until all this dies down.

Tree just fell across our driveway and hit the corner of the house. We are not going anywhere for awhile.

Well, now that the tree is out of the drive way (thanks to help from neighbors) and I've gotten out to check on some elderly friends and do some running for them I focused on my snakes. The incubator got down to 80 degrees. I only have one clutch left of 9 eggs. I ran an extension cord from a working receptacle (run by the generator) and plugged the incubator in. It works! Not resetting but slowly heating back up. I don't think one day going down to 80 will hurt.

For the rest of the snakes I'm running an oil heater near their racks. So, all is well.

Premature post. The Helix on the incubator is now cycling. I'm going to allow it to get to proper temp, then shut it down for awhile.
