I would not recommend NIX or any homebrew to a NEW owner that is experiencing mites for the first time, this should be done by experienced owner only and at their own risk (The is no study on the long term effects of such method) and it can be dangerous even fatal if not mixed properly.

Reptile Relief is ok while waiting for PAM however Provent A Mite is the BEST way to go about mites it take care of all the stages without having to worry about re-infestation and it was manufactured to be used with reptiles unlike nix or any other products.

You can find it in specialty reptile stores they usually carry it, at show or online directly from the manufacturer http://www.pro-products.com/index.ph...d=53&Itemid=59

there are lots of opinions on this subject i like that. as you can see from my original post on this thread, I'm not a chemical guy. after 54 years i have found safe alternatives to most of the stuff commercially offered for lots of symptoms and ailments. I'm a pet owner not a breeder so my perspective and opinions are different mainly because i can invest more time. if chemicals are you thing try to find nicotene sulfate it was used in the poultry industry for mites and it is very safe when properly used.
