Yeah work would be awesome! My desk is full of pictures of them and my co-workers think they are pretty cool! It's funny hearing people say "I know a snake breeder...I never thought I would be able to say that."

LMAO That just made my day! I would take Hera to work with me to show everyone that no, she can't eat me and has no interest in trying.

You know, I took one of my big females to a Petco a while ago, they were having a reptile weekend thing.

Several people thought it was very cool, a few freaked out and refused to walk down the aisle I was standing in. Three people wanted pictures of them "holding" this giant snake { i.e. a picture taken of me holding the snake near them }.

I wandered around a bit, and it so happened they were having an adoption day. I moved out of the way of some over-eager people and ended up next to the kitten room. The ladies inside started freaking out big time. "You can't bring that dangerous thing in here! Leave now! You can't come in here!" etc.etc.etc. I told them very calmly I had no interest in coming into the room, I was simply trying to avoid being trampled. One woman refused to let it go. "You can't bring that horrible thing in here, it will hurt the kittens! Go away ! " and a few other choice phrases.

I lost all patience with the woman. I turned to go, and as I did I spoke loudly enough for everyone to hear me. "Why would I want to bring my precious snake in the room with your nasty kittens, one might hurt her!" Then I walked away with my head held high. I heard a few people snicker. A few moments later, a woman who had been in the kitten room approached me shyly and asked if she could get a closer look. Of course I let her, I even stretched my girl out so she could see just how huge and horrible and dangerous an animal she really was.

Then she surprised me by asking me this: " Why do people hate them so much ? " I was at a loss for words. She gently reached a forefinger up and slowly stroked my girl's side. " I've never been so close to a big one, and I can't believe how beautiful she is." I waited and watched this strange woman to see what she would do or say next. " Are they hard to keep ?" I told her no. As far as I was concerned, they make ideal pets. She asked me why I said that. I told her, " They don't bark or make lots of noise, they don't shed hair everywhere, they don't scratch up the furniture, they don't need a litterbox or to be taken for walks, they eat once a week, they don't smell and are hypo-allergenic. What's not to love about them? "

She asked me where she could find more information and I sent her here. I can only hope she's the proud owner of her own ball by now.
