Well think about this. The breeder kills and freezes them. When shipped to a store they thaw during shipping. So are refrozen. Then u get them and take them home. They partially if not fully thaw out again. If u dont feed them then and stick them in the freezer thats the 3rd time theyve been frozen.

So say u feed the snake the rat the day after u buy it. And the snake doesnt eat it. If u put it back in the freezer then thats the 4th time theyve been frozen.

Ive had them explode on me a few times it sucks. I only feed live or freeze myself.

Just my opinion but refrozen rodents have always been icky and basically unusable when thawed the second time. And if you saw it was nasty looking, why would you try to feed it anyway? Whole prey items are subject to spoilage in the first place, with all the guts intact(bacteria bloom inside those), so I personally would not risk it.

Snakes eat carrion in the wild, their digestive system is different than ours so we can not compare what is not good for us with what is not good for them. I did not enjoy cleaning up rotten rat guts all over the inside of my lidless rack, it was gross looking. The rat was not "nasty looking" before it popped anyway. I never said that. I said it was "off looking" "discolored skin".

And to me "discolored" = nasty. If you can see the discoloration, that's usually an indication that the guts are rotten.

    But hey, it's your snake.

I have 50 snakes that I feed f/t. Each feeding day I have some that are uneaten. I simply place them in a freezer bag, drop them back in the freezer and then take them out on garbage day. I refuse to save them for later.
