I had this happen before with a couple snakes ( even the pinning to the side of the tub). But the orst I had was one that seem to pop the eyes out ( like in total recall) and not once but like 3 times this snake did it. talk about nasty lol.

aww what a little fighter! my girl rolls more coils on the rat if its still fighting. she seems to pick up on when she's not doing a good enough job of the killing process.
fortunately i've never had a rat fight for that long. i've noticed when they just accept fate it goes alot quicker for them, but of course they never go down quiet right?

I've had balls make bad strikes before. I always supervise thier feedings so when they do I just give the rats a good thump on the head and its all over.

Had a similar kill, and rat reaction to yours masonc2k, but good thing this only involved a Rat Pinky.

my ball hasn't done anything crazy, atleast not that i can remember. however my corn always likes to put on a show. usually he will take and roll the rat around the tank, as he is adding coils to the strangle hold.

however the one that sticks out most in my mind was a quick strike to the mid section of the rat. he then took and rolled it over so that the head was under water, and just held it there, till the rat stopped struggling. it was almost comical. he was just looking around waiting for him to stop breathing i guess. the bubbles finally stopped and he began working on the swallowing.

I noticed that a lot of young BPs and corns have trouble actually killing pinkies (rats or mice). I guess it's the size and awkward build that makes it hard for them to constrict? My corn got an extra gerbil pinky (I was trying my hardest to get a nonfeeder to eat) and it took SO long for it to die. Later he swallowed a live mouse pinky whole (as an adult, had a leftover pinky).

My worst feeding was with my female albino. She struck for her small rat so hard in the throat that she punctured one of its veins, then proceeded to constrict it and cover her face in blood. :weirdface She's a nutter! I have this morbid fascination hearing about others' strange feeds.

I gave my smaller girl her first rat fuzzy today, and it took her about 10+ minutes to kill it. I don't know if it's because she is used to f/t and this was live or because she had it like the op stated. My bigger girl instantly squeezed the poop out of her weaned rat:rofl:
