I Also am questioning a pin..

If you are starting off with hatchlings then you should buy all females. I bought my male spider at the same time as my female pastel. By the time my female was up to size I could have bought a breedable male spider for half of what I paid.

If money wasnt an issue i assume?

    1.hidden gene woma
    2.inferno
    3.bunchi(enchi butter)
    4.bumblebee
    5.hidden gene lesser
    6.mimosa(hypo champagne)

I think with these morphs you could make some killer ball pythons including my 2 favorites, soul sucker and enchi inferno.

You make a good point that I really haven't thought of yet. With prices being lowered every year it would make a lot of sense to wait a year or two to buy males. I'll have to keep that in consideration for my own breeding plans. Any other suggestions/opinions on this would be appreciated!

Yep, if money weren't an issue. It is just a hypothetical question. However, I would imagine that for many starters money is a restraint and that's why I choose the more common morphs to start out with. Also, because I would want to start out small to build experience with breeding just in case things went south for some reason.

The way I would start if I could start again would be get your females first...may dom or codom, some cheaper animals such as pastels or mojaves or pinstripes etc...take this time to get your husbandry skills up to par and save your money for a year and pop on a killer tripple codom male to breed to all your females...one male can comfortably breed with 4-5 females...waiting a year and saving your money allows you to buy a more genetically complex male, and when you wait a year to purchase him he will become sexually mature at the same time as your females! Just how I would do it if it were me! :)

I would not do any recessive morphs, it will take too long and you would need a few female normals to keep from inbreeding too much. I would stick with you basic popular morphs, make a little money and then move up from that. Of course you would want to get equipment before snakes. Anyway this is what I started with.

    1) Female Cinnapin
    2) Male Mojave
    3) Female spider
    4) Female het pied
    5) Male Het pied
    6)Male Pastel
    7) Female Lesser
You can hit some really cool looking morphs from this.

I've just finished buying to do something like this and I bought

    Females
    normal ( big breedable ) x2
    mojave
    bumble bee

    male
Lesser ( dr Del thank you again)

Hopefully I'll have good luck and have Blue eyes, mojave's , lesser's , Queen bee , spider and pastels next year .

Well I just started out and this is what I got

    1.1 Fire
    1. Lesserbee
    1.1 Pastel
    .1 normal

I want to get rid of the male pastel and get more females. i want another fire female. I also want a butter pinstripe male. I'm really into the fire morphs. While still a bisic morph and kinda cheap, they do wonders! I also want a BlkEL so bad.

I would probably go with all females to start as well.

On a budget I would get:
    2-3 Pastels
    1-2 Mojave
    1-2 Lessers/Butters

If I could have anything I wanted and stay at 6 females:
    pastel calico
    Firefly
    Queenbee
    BEL (Lesser/Lesser or Lesser/Mojave)
    Super Pastel Yellow Belly
    Super Pastel Pied

Now I really want to win the lottery, I would love to have even just one of the snakes off my non-budget list. :P
