After playing with it and all, it is pretty cool and would be perfect to take along on vacations. But, you did say you have an iTouch, iPhone, and the Macbook Pro... Which could all easily be brought anywhere. And considering all of those together, you can do what an iPad 2 can and can't.
BUT, say you dislike taking your laptop on vacations, small trips, or just anywhere in case of an accident happening, then maybe the iPad wouldn't be a bad decision. It is pretty light in weight and can fit into places a laptop can't (which makes for its awesome portability). Plus the picture quality and screen is just fantastic, so it's not like taking cell-phone pics on a very memorable trip :D.
I can't think of any other ways why the iPad would be reasonable to purchase since you've already got a few nice Apple products.

I approve of everything Adam Chandler has posted. :D
I also however feel there is no need to have an ipad 2, if you have the other things. I have a macbook, a mac pro desktop, and a ipod touch.
I have an android phone bc I'm with Verizon and my contract is up in a year, still don't know what I'll do about that yet. We'll see when the next gens come out of everything.

Verizon has the iPhone 3gs. Ill stick with my android. Plus I'm a hardcore Samsung fan. My fridge is even a Samsung. :p
Verizon has the iphone 4. But I'm in contract so it doesn't matter. I'm a huge samsung fan too, but I prefer my motorola droid.

I didn't know they had the 4 now. My sisters man friend has a 4 and I don't find anything to special about it. The internet is just as slow as mine and I have a Samsung captivate.
AT&T doesn't have unlimited internet on tablets (or phones anymore). It's $15 for 200mb or $25 for 2gb of data with $10 for every gb overage.
It's generally just as easy to use the hotspot on your phone if you have that option. If not I'd go with a no contract plan and you can get that on AT&T with the same rates listed above.
