    Best advice I have, try and make sure the prey is dry before feeding. That will reduce the amount of bedding that sticks. I thaw out by putting the rat in a ziploc bag and putting that in hot water. Keeps the rat dry and the scent more noticable. "defrosting" moisture can also be dealt with by a little time under a heat lamp or hair dryer which has the added bonus of making the prey warmer.
