I think when you're that far gone, terms like "right wing" and "left wing" mean nothing. And terms like "insane" and "crazy" are ways to excuse the behavior...in my opinion. This man is just plain evil.

According to national news he was a self professed Nazi type. The death toll at one time was reported as high as 96 and today as low as 70 something. He does not deny guilt, but insists on a public trial. I heard that if convicted he will get 20 years max...unless they extend his sentence in twenty years for five more. Can someone from Norway confirm that your law only allows for that kind of sentence. I don't really trust the news.

Max sentence is 21 years here, but he can Get forvaring " containment" that mens that after 21 years he can Get parole if the court sees him fit, if not he gets give more years, this can go on until he is releast or dies.
As of last year we past a law that crimes against humanity has a max sentence of 30 years + contaienment. Sentences over 15 years are seldom given.
Anders Bering Breivik vil never be a freeman again.
And he vil probably be in solitary for the rest of his life. Due to the fact that he will not be safe among other inmates.

Not necessarily. Do you happen to know what the crime rate is over there?

Or are you basing your accusation of stupidity on your own bias, possible ignorance, and familiarity with crime that may not exist there? Because if that's the case, you may want to actually pause and think before inserting the old hoof in the old piehole.

I'm sorry, but this man shot and killed 70-something people. Low crime rate or not, 21 years should not be an option for this man.

No need to be so blatantly rude, by the way.

And calling another country's way of dealing with their crime is what? Polite?

It's just a surprise and a little bit of an outrage to hear that this man who shot and killed 70-some odd people (I'm not up-to-date on the death toll yet) can walk away with a sentencing of 21 years.

I didn't attack you or direct anything towards you, so yes, your reply to me was very off-putting and I guess I just didn't appreciate it.

And yet you are comfortable calling an entire population with a society thousands of years older than ours stupid.

Not a chance of non-appreciation or being off-putting to them, eh?

It's nothing personal, stupidity knows no national boundaries.

    This is proven.

Thanks for putting words in my mouth! It's always fun when people do that.
Did I call the people of Norway stupid? No.
Did I call the police, or judges, or anyone stupid? No.
I said that the sentencing is stupid.

    Thanks, though!

I'm done with arguing with you. I like to be pleasant to people, to make this world a tiny bit more of a nicer place to live in. I won't spend time conversing or arguing with people who won't do the same.
