    I don't know, a local breeder has one that looks just like mine and does not use a fan, just one strip on heat tape. He swears by it, temps are great. We will see, I will probably end up installing one...

    If you want to use more than one shelf you will need a fan if you want the temperatures to be the same top to bottom, heat rises ;)
    The temps will be much hotter at the top of the inc if you don't.

    You'll also want water bottles in there for stabilization, with every incubator that I've built water bottles were the number one best way to help keep stable temperatures.
    I have 12 one gallon water bottles in my large true cooler incubator and it makes a world of difference.

    try phoenix, I know its a bit of a drive but I found one up there for next to nothing and it is a full glass front, had all of the shelves, and it even worked. love it to death, this incubator will be with me for a long time.
