lol, I'll get pics of them all once we finish rearranging the critter room and can set the light box up down there. Hauling them upstairs one at a time gets old, and I'd rather take GOOD pics. :)

The second female really does have a pattern that's very much like the first one--all the same features, including the flames and the donuts, etc. The little male's pattern is more conservative.

Next hatchling, male: You'd swear it was a spector if it was in a spector clutch, except for the big neck spot.
(This is kind of amusing and fun. No, I don't think they are actually spectors, that would be beyond the realm of belief in odds, lol...but granites with donuts sure do look like them). :)

2 still in the egg...they are taking their time! So far, every hatchling has a neck spot, and granite speckling along with the larger spots in the alien heads.

Has anyone ever heard of a dominant granite line? Maybe I should be thinking up a new name for these, until I figure out whether they're a known morph? It's obvious that something genetic is involved at this point, so I've got a 'proven something' at least.

They're all out, so that makes a full clutch of 'whatever this is'. The animals all either have a good-sized neck spot like a granite, or a single black scale in their neck stripe. All of them have more or less granite speckling. Most have donuts attached to their back stripe markings. (I have to double-check to see if they ALL do).

I'll have photos soon, but that first female is a very good representation of what the rest of them look like.

Very interesting! I'll be watching the updates on this.

I think I can positively state that the Lesser sire is the origin of this unknown genetic trait (assuming it's not all just a big coincidence). Perhaps the biggest barrier to exploring this is the fact that I don't have any yellowbelly females at all, lol.

Interesting! Do you still have the Lesser sire?

Yes, I have him. I'm not too excited, yet...after all, even if this is 'something', there's no reason yet to believe it's going to be something other than what it is...that is, perhaps mixing it with other things will result in...nothing. The Lesser sire doesn't look unusual, after all. I don't think a morph that just causes granite markings and donuts on the back stripe is going to attract much attention, lol. (Sure, technically it's a morph, but if it can't make interesting combos...it might as well not be).

For now, my goal is just to continue growing up my holdback girls, and try breeding them to the granite male that sired this clutch, and see if this 'whatever it is' can make a super-something. That, and try to get my hands on a yellowbelly girl. Most things that are interesting seem to be brought out by combining them with yellowbelly.
