I love the packing paper. I use it in my snake's tub and since I use a tub the humidity isn't an issue.

I currently buy the indented craft paper from Uline - it comes on a large roll. I like the thickness of it and the texture. It can get pricey though but I don't spare any expense when it comes to my babies.

Wow, I was thinking that I'd use aspen for a snake when I get one, but after reading this, I might just use packing paper. I have a whole bunch left after I switched my Bearded Dragon from paper to tile. I don't want to risk anything with a snake if I get one.
Since the heat mat would be controlled by a thermostat, there's no risk to the paper getting too hot and burning or something, right?
I'd have snakey in a tub also, so I don't think humidity will be any issue.

No, I think the flashpoint of paper is something like 424-474°F when it will spontaneously catch fire. It's called the autoignition temperature or kindling point or something like that.

EDIT: I want to add that it also depends on no chemicals being added to the paper too.
