We use the clips too for the first few weeks then after the eggs settle down and mold themselves to the light diffuser panel then we remove them because the eggs no longer roll around.

I had one clutch of eggs that rolled on me when I took the female off the eggs. I'm not sure if I put them right side up in the tub or not, but they are all hatched and healthy. I use the plastic clips that are supposed to hold the tubes for my watering system. The clothespins sound like a great idea!
