Re: My python got bit while feeding
You may want to consider clipping the top and bottom teeth if you are going to feed live. It is not that hard to do (wearing a kevlar glove gives confidence) and is not that dramatic to the rat. If the snake does not eat it, the teeth grow back.

Before anyone starts yelling CRUELITY, if you are careful it is not big of a deal.
Besides, it's a food item. Better the rat than a bite to the snake's head or eye.

You could also stun or pre kill. My female will only take live and I refuse to feed live. I lost a RTB to a lg rat.
Cervical dislocation (breaking their neck) leaves them kicking in a death twitch for a couple min as the body dies. So its the compromise I've come to with her. I'm still trying everyother feeding to get her switched to f/t.

I'm in an apartment and limited with space and I don't want to fill the limited space I have with rodents. My rodent supplier charges 2.50 sm rat f/t or a fresh one from f'n Petco for 7.50 so getting her on f/t is a priority for me.

my pastel got but once the same way, but it left no punctures or nothing. But i remember one thing a member on here said, which i remind myself with alot of things when it comes to my bp, and that is, you have to remember, these are animals that are prepared for that, i mean ball pythons have survived in the wild for ages, and they dont get f/t in the wild. They live in mite infested caves, and eat whatever comes there way, and yes, they get bit in the wild and they survive....

Its not to say u cant baby them, but u have to also remember what they are, and where they come from.
