So are these guys colubrids or pythons? It is hard to tell but it looks like he has heat sensory pits in these pictures, is that the case?

Actually never took that good look on front of the face.. will check it today :O

They are colubrids... but they are very interesting snakes to keep... They behave a little like pythons when they eat (they constrict by full coiling) and they are easy to keep and breed.

There are few species in pet trade in US

Most popular are Brown House Snake, Spotted House Snake, Striped House Snake and Cape House Snake.

Cape House snake is very interesting because that specie have biggest choice of morphs.
Besides regular wild form you have patternless, striped , albino, amelanistic , hypo piebald and pastel.

I believe that pair of cape house snakes het for albino or het for amel will be my next choice :D

I've started worried because in all this publications i read House snakes are such a good eaters ... and mine was refusing F/T peach fuzzy from beginning ...
He was flickering his tongue act interested only to act scared of food after few sec...
Today was 4th attempt (last fuzzy in bag) and of course same story... He coiled himself in nice pretzel and dont wanna have nothing to do with frozen rodent...
I very delicate dead fuzzy in his coils and leave him be... go back to playing video game with thought that I'll remove it like before after 30-45 min or so...
I believe almost hour past i get my but from bed look inside tub :O There is no mouse !!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:
Instead that....nice bulge in second third of his body...

    I'm so relieved...

But now Question Should I continue attempts with F/T, or just try find store with live feeders??? (what is almost impossible in NYC if we talking about pinky and fuzzy size live rodents)

    :banana::banana::banana:Small Update:banana::banana::banana:

I believe he is fully adapted to his new enclosure... today he launch on "zombie fuzzie" after 2 second dance...
He missed first time but I have occasion to see how powerful and fast his strike is... that was turbo spring launching itself for like 2/3 of his body :rofl::rofl:
He hit a target on second attempt... And believe me this small worm is strong when he wants his food...
Hopefully he father a lot of nice clutches of eggs in the future:gj::gj::gj:
