I recommend going with a snake you LOVE and that eats well! You may not be able to afford the most expensive morphs, but a nice pastel can be reasonably priced. Just don't impulse buy and wait for the right snake. Most sellers are ok holding a snake for about fifteen minutes if you need to think about it, ha ha!

Just remember quality isn't cheap, and cheap isn't quality.

There are super low grade pastels that look OK as hatchlings, but by the time they are adults, they are so browned out they look like nice normals, and not really pastels. Best bet is to buy from someone reputable, and even better if you can see the sire and dam as adults to get an idea of how they might turn out.

Re: How much should I expect to pay for a pastel?
Well..... dad said no on getting a snake.(That really didn't dampen my want to get one...he said he didn't want one because: We don't need another pet and he doesn't want dead mice in the house.???Confuses me on that one since I'm able to keep crickets, superworms, superworm beetles live... Perhaps he'd prefer live ones. (hharhar).
But I'll go with a snake I love. Not just one for the colour. But one who just speaks to me. :3

I got a pair from Pro Exotics for $200. If you want to get two of them and breed them eventually it's a great way to go. But males start there at $100.

Good price! But I don't want to breed any snakes. :P At least not for a long time.
