I have six snakes they all have separate thermostats. A couple of them have different size enclosures. We haven't noticed a big difference in our electric bill. Our air is running all the time now. I don't know where you are in Virginia but were I'm at it's right warm :) Why don't you just tell your mom you will pay the difference if it goes up. It shouldn't cost you to much.

I mean if you find something you want then go for it, but I don't see the point in getting a crestie if you don't really want a crestie just because they don't need heat or light...you know what I mean? I'd say if you are flexible then look into it, I mentioned cresties because they are pretty awesome critters, someone else mentioned some colubrids, do some more research...I just know that most reptiles lovers have their hearts set on specific species. I'd hate to get something that I didn't really want I guess is what I'm saying. Good luck either way you go though! :)

I completely understand what you are saying and I have looked into cresties and such. They were on my list of things I want I just wanted a list of what else doesn't need the extra light and heat. I could pay the extra if it did go up that would be fine with me I was just curious.

I do have my heart set on different snakes but I know I can't have them right now.

I have money saved away to take care of my animals if they get sick. I just wanted to see what other options were there to not run up a bill. I'm sorry if my previous posts made me seem like I had can't take care of them but I am very capable. Like I said I'm not trying to be rude but I just don't like being made to feel like a child.

i didnt mean it that way and sorry if thats how it sounded. thats one bad thing about reading, you cant tell the persons tone. i was just trying to share my thoughts and opinions.

Its okay I understand its hard understanding someone's tone while reading. I just felt as if you were trying to tell me I am incapable of caring for my animals.
