This is an excellent question. How would you know what is what when you breed a mojave to a mystic?
I was thinking about this as I examined a recently hatched clutch from my mojave to a normal and was noticing how much variation there was just among my mojaves.

The biggest difference I have seen between the two mutations is that the Mystics seem to lack any green hues. Mojaves have a greenish tint, and the Mystics lack it. Mystics seem to have a "blacker" black and are more two toned. Their primary color is somewhere between straw colored and yellow, but the snake stays two toned (I hope that makes sense).
Where I have had the problems come in is when I breed a Mystic to a Mojave. Sometimes the babies seem to grow closer to one another in appearance, making the Mystics a bit harder to pick out. I am currently sitting on two animals that I can't decide what they are. They were both from Mystic to Mojave breedings.
Lastly, it is my theory (as I don't have knowledge of it being done yet) that when Mystic Potions start breeding, it is going to be even more difficult to distinguish what the babies are.
I hope that helped some people, and if anyone has any more specific questions, please let me know and I will do my best to help.
I will post some pics in the next week or two of some Mystics I have coming out. They look a bit different, and I believe it may be because they are third generation animals. BUt as the project gets worked further, I think we will start to see Mystics and/or Phantoms that will be more easily distinguishable.

That's what I have noticed, they seem darker in the black areas. It's got to be so hard to breed them with Mojave!
The mystic is on the left and mojave on right. The blushing and greenish brown hue on the mojave is lacking on the mystic. I hope it helps as a visual when side by side as babies.
On a note when buying from a NON trusted name or breeder.. Mystics and NORMALS do tend to confuse even those whom breed these morphs, so IF you are planning on buying a mystic please dont buy it from a homebrewed breeder unless you KNOW he/she is reputable. I'd spend the extra and purchase it from a well known breeder. Ive been breeding for near 10 years and got confused at first, i dont breed morph to normal unless its a clear visual.
Hope it helps.

ON another note, here is a really good comparison between NORMAL to MYSTIC, can you tell the difference?? http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/r...sticnormal.jpg
IF you picked the one on the right as a mystic your right.. BUT lighter normals especially ones that come in your clutch of normal X mystic that are reduced pattern can sometimes give you a run for your money. Happy herping!

I'm not seeing Mystic in either animal pictured. At least not like any I've seen or produced.

The one mystic I held at a show looked an awful lot like a normal. The colors on him just looked a little lighter than usual.

Phantoms and Mystics can range to Bright mojo colors to DARK colors that will throw off the most trained eye.
