Also, have you tried holding the f/t prey at the shoulders in front of the snake? Instead of hanging the prey above? Hanging from above tends to make the prey look larger and could be intimidating to the snake. I just recently switched a 10 y/o BP to f/t and he ate live his entire life. As the other posters suggested, head the prey with a blow dryer prior to feeding. I had to heat as many as three different times before mine finally took. Works like magic :)

As stated it sounds like you heated the mouse up to fast is the reason for the split. Also, I too had a difficult time getting one of my BP's switched over to F/T. How i accomplished it was to just leave the mouse in her tub overnight and that did the trick! When i thaw out my mice or rats i usually take them out of the freezer and let them sit for a couple hours, then put them in hot water for 15 min...before offering them i will run them under hot water (still in the bag) to make sure they are nice and hot when offered up...seems to work just fine for me...good luck in the future!

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'm going to try to get her to eat it today, so i will make sure to let y'all know how it goes.

I left the mouse in the fridge overnight. I let the mouse sit in a bowl of hot water for 15 minutes, and as soon as i take the mouse out of the bag and hold it with the tongs, it breaks open... Maybe this is a crappy batch of mice? Any ideas?

Try taking the mouse out of the fridge about 3 hours before feeding. Let it warm to room temp during that time, then heat it with a hair dryer for about a minute on low.

I don't own a hairdryer. Any other ways?

Then try heating it up for a minute in the warm water after it's been out of the fridge for 3 hours.
