Do you breed these as food items, for pets or to sell?

    These are feeders.

My brother and sister took a few for pets a few years ago and they just kept escaping and didn't make good pets. It's not to say they would never make good pets but they are challenging and you'd have to work with them a lot.

Very nice. I was just wondering, ASF = African Short Fur Rat right? Now, what exactly is special about these rats, why not just breed normal rats?

Well asfs are addicting to the balls. Sometimes you get that really picky one that won't come off asfs or won't eat anything else. Theyre the natural food source for balls but at the same time I prefer to never have to use asfs. As they're impossible to Find in my area.

Cute litter though! Theyre all so cute as little ones.

Cool, I did some reading, they're latin name ends with natalensis which is the same as the Natal Rock Python which is a sub species of the Afroc!

They're weird looking rats, but the white ones look really cool!

Homegrownscales pretty much answered your first question :). I only have a few colonies for my picky eaters.

They're pretty neat little animals and a completely different species from normal norway rats, Rattus norvegicus. Another name for ASFs is the Natal Multimammate Mouse.
