Why did you get into bps if you're not willing to deal with the hunger strikes? I have a female pastel that hasn't eaten since last July and she just gave me 5 eggs... we think they have to be huge and fat to breed. Wrong. They know what's best for them and if they have eaten, they will again.

I have an Ornate monitor who happily takes care of anything refused, lol.

I wouldn't mind the hunger strike if she wasn't a tiny thing, a whole 300g. She's doing great maintaining her weight, I think she's lost maybe 1-2g during her strike. I just want her to eat because thus far she's the most expensive snake in my collection and I would like to breed her sometime in the next decade. :P

I don't worry too much I try to get 30 meals a year that's it. If one whom is always the first out and last stopping he sometimes gets a extra tidbit here and there when he is eating to try to get that last few meals in. If they don't show much interest that is it on to the next. Weigh them that is the best indicator of health if they are not dropping much weight there is no problem.

Side question has your local temps outside weather been cool at night lately ? We have been having rainy day after rainy day here and mine whom in other years would have been eating regularly by now are still off, curious if there might be some relation to temps and weather.

She's just a baby, I don't know her exact hatch date, but it was sometime in 2010. As stated above, she's not losing weight so I'm not worried, but it would be super nice if she ate. As for the weather, it's been getting warmer. Last month we were in the mid 60s and this month so far it's been in the 90s.

I do feed f/t and I've tried leaving it in with her. I've even tried putting it in the hide she's using at the time. If I leave if there over night, she just moves the hide so she's not sitting next to it any more. Now she's gets about an hour before I feed it off to someone else.

I did something to turn her off food last month I think. I just don't know what it was.

Keep offering food, try different foods mice, rats, live, f/t. Try offering at midnight try a different day. Your willingness to keep working will pay off.. I have a mojave and a het pied that only ate ASF's for years.. they bred and poof now they are rat machines. go figure..

chin up and keep plugging away, we all go through it..

Thank you Ed for the encouragement. I finally got my male normal feeding again. You are an inspiration!

I thought this as well, but I learned the hard way that rat pups can still bite. Before I switched my Pin to p/k I gave him a live rat pup, darn thing wobbled right on up to him and took a nibble. Luckily he killed it immediately after and went into shed the next day. My point being, a rat pup can still do a bit of damage if the snake isn't interested or quick enough.
