    No one said it will hurt the probe.

    A snake resting on the probe or a puddle of urine on the probe will screw up the readings.

    I almost lost an anthill python that way. He curled up on the probe. T-stat was set at 92. His core temp was about 86. The stat upped the power to the RHP to 100%. Now I rig my RHP/T-stat set up a bit differently.

    But hey - to each his own.
