While this is unfortunate, think of it this way...

From the other side, this seller doesn't know you from Joe Shmoe who may have called him for two weeks straight saying he wanted them, and then never showed when the day to do the deal occurred.

I think the real problem with deals like this is that sellers can't trust buyers to come thru with what they promise, as it puts the seller out more than the buyer does. So.... Take what is certain versus what is a maybe.

I can't say I agree with the actions themselves, but I do understand it, and I think you should too.

    I agree completely with Heather.

Having been on the selling side, it is maddening to be told a person is going to buy an animal. They seem very interested and very sincere. Sometimes they are sincere enough you hold the animal. Then suddenly they drop off the face of the planet.

No calls, no emails, no anything. So you start the sale all over again. And that may happen three or four times for the same animal. After a few times of this happening, you stop holding animals. If it happens enough, then you stop worrying about annoying a seller and you just take the fastest cash.

Now, this may not be what happened in your case, maybe these two sellers are just jerks. But don't condemn all of us based on your experiences. ;)

So really if you didn't immediately put money on the animal you where "wanting to purchase" the seller has no obligation to hold it. Unless there was a specific time fame in place. Like if the seller agreed to hold the animal for X days/hours.

agreed i would get 2938290238923 emails a day reply to them an most of the time never herd back or you get the real low ball offers "if you cant sell it for x amount ill give you half that amount" i hate those the most.

Agreed. It does suck when you lose out on something, but honestly the only way to be fair about it is to sell the snakes to whoever sends the money first. It may be frustrating to someone that has not sold snakes, but once you start selling you will understand. For every person that says "money order is on the way", or "I will paypal you after work"....... maybe half actually follow through. I have lost out on snakes like this and have been the person that had to tell someone that snakes were paid for by someone else first. It's a crappy sitiuation for everyone, but you have to understand that a seller will often times have multiple interested people at the same time.

Which is exactly why people can't expect sellers to hold a snake for anyone without at least a deposit.

John I recently had this happen where I got multipliable emails with in the same day about the same animals. To be fair I looked at the timestamps sorted out the order people had inquired and sent them all the same email say each person had x number of days to send payment after that time the animals are open to the next person in line.

I have had people string me along for weeks even working out payment plans then dropping of the face of the earth cause they found something else at a show or whatever.. Customer's tend to look for due diligence from the seller but then offer none themselves.

I read this and a little light bulb went off

Yeah, I was not at a computer where I could make the payment. He agreed to hold it Until this afternoon when I would have made the payment. I did everything I could to make sure he and I had an agreement. But it all doesn't matter. It's just BS that people will agree to a deal and then sell it out from under you.
Or on the other side agree to a deal and not buy after they say they will too right.
I hate that it happens. But to be fair and honest it is first come first serve. I have had people walk up to me at a show tell me they want a snake "Let me run go get some money" and never show back up. All the while I'm turning customers down waiting on someone else to come through.

Just out of wondering, did you tell them a time that you would send the payment?

I will not hold anything for anyone unless there is a 25% non refundable deposit. I just recently had a Het Albino male up for sale and one guy said I want it but I don't get paid until Thursday(5 days later). I said okay and answered his thousand and one texts then on Thursday, he said he would pick up at 4PM but never showed and would not answer his phone. You just don't know if the buyer is just playing games or is really sincere! If the seller agrees to the terms then they should abide by them. Cash is King! From now on, I will not hold a snake unless money is in my hand!

There's nothing about the post that sounds BOI worthy. If he didn't make a payment as soon as the deal was agreed upon, then the seller has every right to sell to the first person that send money.
