Same thing happened to me (although with the cheap petco gauges). Olive oil works perfectly to get the adhesive off, just dip a q-tip and gently rub it onto the adhesive and softly pull, it's not a horribly fast process, but it works like a charm!

There is very little room in between the top of the accurite and where the screen slides on.

p.s. I know humidity's off. Thats cause my fans on  it kills it.

Are you using this to monitor temp as well, or just humidity? If you are using it for temp then it needs to be mounted an inch or two from the bottom of the tank -- where the snake actually is. There is no sense measuring the temp at the top where the snake doesn't normally hang out.

The probe goes down to ground level, you just can't see it in its picture. It's more for ambient temps. I measure everything else with a temp gun.

FYI that Accurite mod is very easy to do, it takes about 15 minutes start to finish.

I did it for my incubator and egg box, since I lost an entire clutch to lack of humidity even though I had a inch of water under the grate the eggs were on. Turns out the lid didn't seal worth a darn even using press-n-seal.

Now I use a quadruple layer of plastic wrap, and my humidity stays where it needs to be.

My point is, I'm a girl and I still did the mod in 15 minutes. The only thing is to use a 15 watt or higher soldering iron, and use silver solder.

Baby oil works wonders on getting adhesive off easily. My younger ball escaped her first week home and got into carpet tape (now THAT is sticky). I freaked out of course and someone suggested baby oil and it slid right off with no damage to the scales.
