I agree! Look at Candace Owings with Custom Creatures. She is really taking off with her business of sculpting clay reptiles. She can barely keep up with her orders.
I bet you can do the same with illustrations of people's pets :D

Umm, about using this drawing, I dunno, I'm trying to stop letting people use my art for free, just because I'm now trying to make a living off of it! This piece in particular since I might end up doing something with it...In the future I'll be happy to do commissions, and since I work digitally I wouldn't charge much at all, more just for my time and (very) slowly fixing the dent the adobe suite/cintiq tablet/new computer made in my wallet! :O
This is going to be one of my summer projects, so maybe I'll post some more! One of my next pictures will be my normal ball python! I think the people here will like that! :D
