Ordered the thermostat and thermometer. Gonna go price the other stuff tomorrow. Hopefully get everything bought and setting up by next week. Then look into the BP purchase mid June after pay day

Well got the tank set up and the BP paid for, will be picking it up Tuesday.
Here is a picture of the set up I have
    http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...528_142935.jpg

Have had it set up for a few hours now and the numbers are looking good I think.

    Hot side: 90.9
    Cool side: 79.3
    Tank temp: 77.0
    Humidity: 67%

Gonna continue to monitor it over the weekend and will be at the shop as soon as I can on Tuesday to bring the new little one home.

Woke up today and my numbers were a little different then yesterday evening/night

    Hot side hide: 92
    Cool side hide: 73.6
    tank temp: 72.5
    Humidity 67%

So only the cool side and tank temp really changed over the early morning. Is this ok? I am sure the temps will go back up as the day comes along only 10am here and looks to be a cloudy day for us. Plus my house was around 73 when I got up.

    ogden nailed it.
    now for my:2cent:

i like most wish they got everything situated before bringing my baby home.
    lesson learned.
im glad your looking for advice it shows you care and this website can be a blessing if you have questions.
there is so many ways you can go.tub is easier to manage heat and humidity, tanks are more pleasing to the eye and generally need some modifications to acheive proper temps and humidity.
essentials for inside tub or tank
2 hides one for each side of tank warm and cool
    substrate
water dish thats big enough for snakie to fully submerge entire body if it chooses
    undertank heater
thermostat or rheostat (thermostat is better)
    two good thermometers
    one good hygrometer

    what i use
    20gl long
cypress mulch and sphagnum moss mixed
one of those "reptile jacuzzis"for a waterbowl
warm hide, humid hide(tupperware bowl closed with a hole cut for entree and moist moss stuffed in it),medium(middle)temp hide
uth to rheostat(thermostat coming this week)
two zilla probe thermometers for warm and cool
an accu rite in the middle to kinda gauge ambient air temp in middle
some $20 dial stickon hygrometer(dont remember the brand) that was as acurate as my digital
fake plants and a bunch of other decorations that coupled as hiding spots, obstacles, and climbing perches.
decorations arent necessary, they just add to the enviroment and adventuring of the critter.
good luck and congrats on your decision

Here is what I have in there right now.

    20L tank
two plastic saucers from home depot with fake plants hot glued onto them

    Zoo med UTH
Acu-Rite 00891A1 Indoor and Outdoor Thermometer with Humidity
Hydrofarm MTPRTC Digital Thermostat For Heat Mats
    medium water bowl

Here is an updated picture of the tank. I had some extra plants left over and decided to see how they would look along the back of the tank on the water bowl.

The other thermometer is just a cooking one I am using to see how the cool side hide is doing.
