Oh. I'm sure they say that because unregulated they can do some serious damage. Especially if there is a short or malfunction. I've had all 10 of my snakes on heat pads, in tubs, with no issues.
If you think about it, any material that can melt under 92-95 degrees is not made for animals anyway. Too wimpy.

Darn it!! How are you so much quicker than me. Lol. I better step up my game. :)

The UTH isn't on a dimmer, it's on a thermostat, set to 91 (so it fluctuates between 90 and 92). I have a digital hygrometer/thermometer that measures both sides of the cage with probes. My temps stay pretty constant, other than the several degree fluctuation.
Sorry, I didn't read this it just took me to the last page. :weirdface
Yeah, 20L should be plenty big if you are sure it's a male. They don't need a lot of room to stretch out in, since they spend most of their adult life in their hides. But, if you are more comfortable with a bigger tank that's fine. It's not that much different. And, they live in rodent burrows in the wild. They like small tight spaces. (There is a funny joke in there somewhere, but it's a Monday - I'm not touching it).
