Shed, and a little more friendly :)

he looks great!! I have really been thinking about getting one lately myself.. I have a dozen balls so far and they are all kept in either a 16qt rack, 32qt rack and I have a Vision CB70 rack for adults. What are you keeping him in right now, just curious?

Want to know if I could keep him in one of the rack spaces until he gets too big.. I haven't done too much research yet, just been thinking about it. do they have same temp grades, etc?

Cdavidson, do NOT keep boas in racks with ball pythons. They should technically be strictly quarantined away from ball pythons (not sure about other species of snakes?). They can carry a virus called IBD (also paramyxo) both will kill your entire collection. It's not very common, but definitely not unheard of. I always handle my bps first then my boa last, and always wash your hands or sanitize afterwards.

I keep my boa in a 34qt tub. It's working well so far. He has two hides and uses them all the time. Although I have heard most boas won't ever bother hiding, I never see mine unless I take him out of feed him. Anyways, if you have any other questions I'll help you out as much as I can :)

Thanks so much for the info Lgray. I wouldn't ever just "do" something before not checking it out. Now after doing some more research I totally here where you're coming from. How's the little guy working out for you? Sounds like you are developing a new addiction to another species... hehehe.

Hopefully Pete was a good guy to deal with for you. He really was awesome for me when I got my Pied from him (although at times a little hard to get a hold of). haha.

Will keep you posted if I end up making a purchase anytime soon. Oh, and do you just use the tub's lid with some straps over it? Or are do you have the tub in a rack of some sort? Thanks again for all the advice.

I actually got him off a friend who got him from Peter. So I didn't deal with them directly, however I've never heard anything bad. I do love boas, if I had more room I'd get more of them too lol. I use binder clips to secure the lids, but luggage straps work well too. Good luck :)

I keep some of my boas in the same rack as my ball pythons. I only buy my boas from trusted breeders to lessen the chance of the boas carrying any kind of disease. If they are disease-free, there is no threat in housing boas and pythons in the same rack.
