Yes, males can lock like that. Its a dominance thing. You really should not house males together though, especially if you are planning on breeding. Assuming both snakes are correctly sexed what youre seeing is a type of combat and stressful on both animals. IMHO, putting him in with other males is worse than putting him in with the female. If I were you, my next step would be to get individual setups for each animal (plus a couple extras for new arrivals, bps are addicting).
Oh well, live and learn but for next time I would suggest:
1. Quarantine no matter who you got the snake from. The one time you keep mites or a disease away from your other animals it will be worth it. Even if its from a reputable source, there is always a chance the new animal has something they missed and the stress of the move will make it pop up.
2. Try to avoid housing snakes together except when breeding them. It makes things more complicated and its easy to stress your snakes out.

No one is being defensive here except for you. You aren't adhering to a strict quarantine period for new animals. Someone mentioned that you NEED to quarantine and then you got defensive because your husbandry was brought into question.
Regardless of where an animal comes from you really, really, really need to keep to a quarantine procedure for all new arrivals. This is to ensure both the health of your new animal as well as the health of those that the snake comes into contact with. There are some truly tragic stories on here that detail just what can happen when quarantine isn't put into practice. The people here are simply trying to spare you that sort of grief.
I have two males here on loan from a good friend. I don't question the quality of her animals or her husbandry at all and yet both of these guys were quarantined for 6 weeks before I introduced them to their intended females.
I agree with aalomon, as well. Unless they're breeding, you really shouldn't co-hab your snakes. They're not social and prefer being alone. It makes it easier to identify potential problems with a snake in an enclosure when there is only one snake living there.

This is a great website with lost of very knowledgeable breeders that would be willing to help you in an instant. Possibly causing ill health in your pet is never funny to anyone. For future reference and the health and safety of your snakes: Always qt your snakes, no matter who they are from. It protects the health of your collection and gives your new arrival proper time to settle in. Also, it is never smart to house multiple snakes together.Just my :twocents: Since the deed is done, and hopefully you learned from the experience. Are you 100% positive they are both males?

Re: is this a lock??
Well I can take a joke. It was kinda funny, but in all seriousness its not good practice to not quarantine your animals. I have had snakes for going on 9 years now. I just purchased several this year from 3 different reputable breeders and I did a quarantine for almost 2 months and noticed nothing. I then decided to put them into the snake room with the rest (in their own tubs) and what do you know, one had mites. I have never had mites or a sick snake. Trust me you dont want to deal with things like this. It can even happen when you do things correctly. I caught them early and stopped them but they are persistent little buggers. The snake you just got is most likely fine but you never know for sure and you can save yourself alot of stress by just doing things the right way. There are alot of good people on here that know alot and will help you and be glad to joke around but some things need to be taken seriously. They have taught me alot. Good luck.

Re: is this a lock??
Sorry, I thought I answered your question. Yes, two male snakes can lock like that. Its caused by a dominance/combat reaction with two males in breeding condition. Seeing that behavior does not automatically mean one of the snakes is a female, but it wouldnt hurt to double check the genders. Did I miss anything?

Re: is this a lock??
Dont worry about it. People here are very passionate about their animals. Its nothing personal, its just that the snakes come before the people here. You get used to it and end up getting really good advise. Good luck.
