I had a good employment record and good credit so I got the apartment in my name and my girlfriend just slept over every night. I took full responsibility for the apartment.

Would it be possible to get someone to co-sign for you? That's how I got my first apartment, my boyfriend's mother had to co-sign the lease with us.

As others have stated, I would stay away from craigslist. I found my current apartment on Rent.com.

If you decide to go down the road of just having his name on the lease, be careful that you don't have a nosey landlord. Every lease I've ever signed had penalties for having people who are not on the lease living with you.
