    No. Those ointments will not bother the eye at all. Just make sure you use the plain antibiotic ointment. Not the one will added pain killing agent. Or plain A&D ointment.

    I suggest making a humid hide for her hot side. A plastic box big enough for her to fit in. Cut an entrance hole in one end. Put a couple inches of cypress mulch bedding or moss and keep it slightly damp. Put this on her hot side the moment you notice the signs of a shed.. Pink belly, dull eyes and skin, etc. She should use it willingly. Leave it in all that week until she sheds. Replace it once the shed cycle begins again.

    Yeahh sorry I wasn't clear when I said just remove the eyecaps i didnt mean pull them off. I was thinking of something along the lines of soaking or something to increase humidity (I've heard that having him in the bathroom while youre having a steamy shower works well, I'm not sure though) and then just giving them towels to rub their eyecaps off on their own.

    IF you are right in saying that all these probably stem from its inability to see properly due to the retained eyecap, then your BP should be fine once its off.
