I keep reading about how smart retics are. In your experiences does this extend to the super dwarfs as well?

Oh yes. Definitely. Very inquisitive, expressive, and just as varied as the mainland retics.

They will stare you down like the big guys will. You learn their expressions and actions. They learn to recognize and trust you just the same.

What's the difference (personality wise) between the true super dwarf and the honey island dwarf (or even just the other locality dwarf retics that stay under 10')?

No difference really. Both should be equally as nice to have if raised and handled the right way.

As for dwarf locales.. None stay under 10 ft. That I know of. At least 10-12 ft is the general rule but I hear jampeas can hit 12-14 easy.

I keep reading the Honey Islands stay smaller. Different info everywhere you look, lol.

Smaller in regards to a 20+ retic but 10+ feet is not uncommon for most of the other dwarf locales. Some of the males might be 7-10 feet but the females might get 10-12+ feet. I can't say from experience but that is what I've read.

    Regards,

Alright. That's what I had initially read and understood to be true and why I focused on SD's. More recently while reading, researching, etc. I saw things saying that certain males from dwarf locals could be more in the 6'-8' range. I don't want to end up with a snake I can't handle. More research. :snake:

The Honey Island is considered a super dwarf because the pure ones stay well under 8 ft but it's not a "True SD" like the Kaoloata and Kayaudi SD's. The other locales are dwarfs because they get quite a bit larger. My Honey Island is still no more than 6ft and I doubt she will get any longer. She has only gotten thicker.

The problem is that so few Honey Islands were imported that it is very hard to find them now. At least pure ones. There are far more true SDs out there.

The only physical difference I can immediately notice between the 2 is the honey island is more yellow and has a slightly longer head. The pattern is the same.

Thank you for that information. Finding pure locality retics seems to proving difficult.
