Re: Where to get pieds?
I want an albino pied myself, and I'm saving up too lol, everyone's right they are really, really expensive. I paid somewhere around $190 or so just for my pastel, but he had really good breeding and is beautifully colored(I'll get pics up as soon as he out of shed) You can always get a normal to start out with for about $69, if you really just want one now, but if you're willing to save for what you really want, then that's the way to go :)

Anyway, while looking at all the different morphs, I've fallen in love with pieds. The only problem is, every breeder I've looked at, if they even have any pieds, is selling them for hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars. And I'm not made of money. :p I didn't know if anyone knew of a breeder that sells their pieds a bit cheaper. My limit is probably $150, and even that's pushing it. My number one priority is the health of the animal; I don't want to sacrifice that just to get a pretty color. But I do kind of have my heart set on a pied. :p They're just so beautiful.
the Pied Peddler in AZ is great. His prices are pretty decent... aroun7-800 and he will negotiate a payment plan. He is a great guy with AMAZING animals :)

Yeah, sorry, they're still expensive, and even when the go down I think they'll hover around $500 for a looooong time like albinos have been doing.
But you could probably save up for a heterozygous female in the mean time? Or at least het boy.
I couldn't afford a pied when I started, so I got a male het pied for $100. Male hets are pretty easy to find for $50 now.

Re: Where to get pieds?
You are not going to be able to find a pied in that price range. You can go to a local reptile show and find a huge selection of other ball pythons that you can start off with. Make sure you have the proper cage requirements and go from there. Make the pied your goal after understanding what keeping a snake is like. I made owning pieds my goal many years ago when they first hit the market. I finally got my first one in 2010. Let's just say that the price has come way down from the first pieds until now.

I agree two years ago I was getting my first pied and I paid 1900.00 for a high white male and a female 100% het. They were out of my budget but in my dreams for years! I saved little by little and one day I was there. You could get a pair of hatchling hets and raise them up and breed them. But I'd get the hang of husbandry and research breeding first before you even try to start. Pieds are a coveted recessive morph. As other have said recessives are a bit harder to get visual morphs out of without a little extra work and the two compatible genes or about 4-6 years of work.
