I suppose I did word what I said a little wrong....
What I was trying to say is that with a thermostat and a heat source, the tub heats up really well and the temps inside are usually perfect. Or something like that...now I lost my train of thought and forgot what I was trying to say

Just a comment, I am as you can likely tell on the fence tubs, they solve some issues but create others. I have one tank with a partial screen top and it still holds temps better than the bare tub. It does not matter until the power fails.

The end of the day what matters is the keeper, the set up is not important. The keeper must solve the problems of the environment they have both captive environment inside the enclosure and outside the enclosure. A diligent keeper with some common sense and a bit of work will find a away to create a perfect captive environment a poor keeper will not. A tub does not magically make things perfect, it is just one tool that might help.

I started with a tub at first but as I live it a cold house it was a very poor option the ambient temps were never high enough it simply cooled off too fast (my average room temp is 65 winter and 72ºF summer). I use a set of custom enclosures that have good insulation and hold in the heat. That works for me, some choose to heat a room to 80ºF and then run a system in that (basically 2 systems a room and then a enclosure in that room) it is efficient if you have a number of animals but not very if you have a few. There are no short cuts. That is my point.
