20 gallons is considered the minimum for adult corns. You can always go bigger if you want, but 20 gallons is generally fine for an adult. Garter snakes stay smaller generally. The males are smaller than females but you could definitely keep an adult female in a 20 long.

I love my milksnakes, the albinos do look very cool, here's our male, he's from Bob Applegate.

    Great temperament too!

I have kings as well but my milks seem way friendlier.

I disagree, a 20 long is plenty for even the biggest male corn (males get bigger). It doesn't hurt to go bigger but it isn't necessary.

You don't want to put an adult honduran in a 20 gal.. They get to like 6-7 feet long, they're a very large colubrid.

Corn would be fine, the nelsons stay smaller as well I think and they are beautiful!

I love my Nelson Milk. Very calm, not flighty at all, and has never musked. - See Avatar :-)

I have a pair of Albino Nelson Milksnakes and love the coloring on them. My male has a lot of white and my female has a lot of red. So, you could get a pretty cool looking snake there. I also have a banded California Kingsnake I picked up from Bob Applegate. There are so many different colors and kinds. Figure out what color or snake you'd like! So many options and opinions are all over the place. Figure out what YOU want!

The person isn't willing to put a few extra in on a bigger tank for a bigger snake; I doubt they can dish out $1200+ for a scaleless anything XD
