Some snakes fast in the winter, but some will just refuse mice or rats in favor of their preferred prey. I had a BP who was afraid of live prey and would only eat dark colored FT rats! My other snakes will only occasionally eat rats and will often refuse rats but take as many mice as they can cram. This is why it makes it easier to write down when your snake eats or when it is not eating. i try to note how big the food is and whether is is FT, live and whether it was freshly thawed or been in the fridge for a day or two. My female pied will refuse food that isn't freshly thawed, but otherwise eats just about anything live, pre killed or FT so long as it hasn't been sitting around for long. My biggest male PREFERS stinky, slightly older FT mice.

They are like people, I bet you may know someone who LOVES stinky cheeses or maybe you like them? And yet lots of people can't stand the stuff!! In the ball python world, sometimes you have to cater to your pets. None of my corn snakes were ever picky.
