I'm sure there are lots of guys who are phobic (but hopefully not psycho) about playing with their snake. In all seriousness though, once a bp's basic needs are met (proper environment & nutrition) it's then possible to get an idea of their true "personality" or disposition over time. It's good to be aware that we tend to project our own personalities and human characteristics on animals - whether rightly so or not, nevertheless it's good to try to see things objectively so as to be respectful of a pet which is completely dependent on its owner.

That being said, it seems some bp's like being handled often while others merely tolerate it once in a while. As to the best time, that can vary to. I've found morning seems to be the least desirable time, with evening being preferable (bp's are nocturnal, so they may want alone-time when the sun comes up).

How long? As long as they're not getting cold or in very low humidity, an hour or longer is not out of the question.

Regarding how long to wait to handle after feeding: You may want to check out the latest edition of snakebytes.tv from Brian's 3/16 show on YouTube or at his site (BHBEnterprises.com), where he talks about the Top 10 Worst Advice on Snake Care. He says there's no need to wait a full 48 hours after feeding; 6-12 hours is adequate. I've found 12 hours or the next day to be just fine.

Hope you find this info helpful ;)

I mist my tubs for humidity upkeep every evening before lights out. Sometimes that involves me moving the snakes around or them coming up to me to see what I'm doing.... So I have "contact" with them like every day. I only "handle" them when I am changing out substrate or weighing them:)

I handle mine twice a day, but the main time is around 7 central. I have never had a problem. Jack is about as docile as they can be. It does not matter when you grab him. He is a pet and has never shown any aggression, what so ever. He feeds like a pig and will eat even when he sheds.

Maybe I'm lucky! My BP has never snapped ever. I've had more of my pet dogs snap at me!
