    Unless absolutely necessary you should wait till 2 days after you feed him to do any handling so even if he does stay in feeding mode you should not be in his enclosure much so it won't really matter.

    Very true. Minimal handling at first (none in the first week). After his first feed wait a couple days and then you can handle him for a bit. Don't overdue it. You should have him for 20+ years so what's a week or two? :)
