Chain stores like that are always really hit or miss in what they're like. The petco near me is actually pretty good about it. Possibly because some of their clerks actually own BPs at home and know how they should be cared for. But I have been in locations that weren't as good.

It breaks my heart to see those poor reptiles in Petcos. I went with my boyfriend to get something for his neice's fish tank, and of course I wanted to go see the snakes. What I saw was so horrible, he had what looked like multiple sheds that didn't come off, and he was literally BAKING under the light they had in the tank. He just barely lifted his head and looked at me when I stopped, I wanted to cry. I grabbed the closest employee and ripped into them. I hadn't even owned a ball python at that point and I knew that he was unhealthy. Not only was his water bowl completely empty, but even the crappy humidity guage said there was zero humidity! I've been meaning to go back to see how the conditions are now, because I think the whole store heard me.
