You know how like when you go to the Doctor's and you have to get blood drawn and your sitting there, they tie the rubber band around your arm and you know its coming, then the nurse jabs you and it doesnt really hurt but you can feel it in your arm and its a little uncomfortable? A ball python bite is less worse than that;) Well unless its a big ol' 3000G girl. Then look out :P
But looking at your pics yours is small. Most people assume its gonna feel like a 20 ft. crocodile clamping down on you.... lol
It's so fast your just like "Wow... really?"

Im so glad I found this thread! Ive had my snake 5 or 6 weeks now and have the same fear! Fluffy is a little jumpy but I just try to move slow my 4 yr old son held him for the first time yesterday and he was so happy It was funny Fluffy came right back to me like he wanted no part of my son and it made me a little more confident holding him! Im sure ill get bit :( one day but im holding out for as long as I can :P
Re: is tyson pissed or am i over reacting
I've had my .1 for almost 2 months now. I had a small bit of jitters, but I think I really desensitized my fear during the course of my 3-4 month study on BP. I watched every video on Youtube I came across and saw how people would just pick them up. I think this in many ways built my confidence. Years ago A friend of mines had a baby ball and I was silently terrified while I was holding it. After my research that fear subside a lot.
I think more than anything my fear's not getting bit, it's the strike that startles the crap out of me. Kinda like watching a horror movie. It's not the scene that startles you, it's the loud music or score and anticipation that gets to me.
My suggestion's over time began to slowly get take things away from your routine. Start by taking away the long shirt. Then drop the gloves, but do it in a time matter that you feel safe with. The over time you'll be picking it up with no gloves, long shirts, etc.
As children we are born with only two fears, Falling and loud noises. Everything else's conditioning. If we are afraid of snakes and our children see this there's a good chance they will be too. We can learn a lot from watching children. And they learn even more by watching us.
