Platty daddy's ?...

So is limited? Like is there no way to like make a bumblebee platty?

It's possible, but it would be a four gene animal... pastel, spider, lesser platinum, and the het daddy gene.

You have to have a Gene from the BEL Complex to make the Hidden gene show up. Meaning it is 2 genes that you need to have in the mix, but can't be passed from 1 parent( like supers ), both parents need to have atleast 1 to give it a chance.

no? daddy gene snake can pass the trait to offspring, thats how you make plattys. lesser x daddy gene = 25% plattys

I was curious about a couple Platty Daddy issues. People often refer to the normal babies of a Platty Daddy x Normal cross as "het for platinum". If that were truly the case, could two of the normal babies be bred together to form a platinum? If not then that seems rather confusing. Also, many people believe that Butter and Lesser Platinum are the exact same morph. If that is the case then would a normal het for platinum crossed with a Butter produce a Platty Daddy?

Yes, but Ralph calls them Butter Daddies.

So if you breed a normal het for platinum to another normal, are the offspring 50 PC het for platinum? Likewise with Lessers bred to a normal, would the normal offspring be 50 PC het for platinum?

Yes to the first question, no to the second. If a lesser platinum is carrying the gene it will be a platinum.

I'm having just a bit of confusion with the genetics behind that. I can only assume that the two genes required to produce a Platty Daddy (hidden gene x lesser) are on the same allele so only one of them can be passed down. Is that a fair assumption? Out of curiosity, how has it been proven that the lesser doesn't have this hidden gene? Did they exhaustively breed normals produced from lessers back to lessers to prove they don't produce Platinums?

From my understanding of it they are on the same allele. Which by definition would mean that lessers can't carry it. For the nitty gritty about what breedings were done to figure the genetics out, your best bet would be to email Ralph Davis directly.
