Mine go through a system ;)
They start in a 15 qt tub (sweater size) which comfortably holds 2 small hides, waterbowl and room to spare.
Eventually they move on to the 32 qt size with 2 medium hides and a waterbow. Again, some room to spare.

I like that they have small, tight hides in either warm and cool end, but still some room in between.

As they get older and bigger they should feel relaxed and safe enough to get by with only one hide in the larger tub and eventually even no hide. That will depend on the snake itself.

So far this is easy to maintain and works great for me :)

Yes, I wish there was an "intermediate" size in the reptile basics hides. I LOVE those hides, but the jump from small to medium is quite large !

He dearly loves his small hide, so when he is moving to the bigger tub today it will have the 2 md. hides they all have, plus I'll put his small hide in there for him as well. It will feel like home for him ;)

Has anyone asked reptile basics if they would consider making a size in between ? I might look into the other hides, too, but I like the opening on the side better.

Freedom Breeder makes a great hide that was designed for Ball Pythons by Kevin from NERD. Here is a picture of one of my 1400 gram Females in the Medium sized one. They hold either a deli-cup water bowl or in my case a 4” crock dish. This size is good up to about 1800 grams but they have a larger one that would be fine for those big girls that still need hides.

Here is the link to them at the Freedom Breeder site.
