Depending on the amount of clutches you will be expecting try looking on craigslist for either a wine cooler or stand up freezer or something to the sort. There are also a bunch of threads on here on how to make a bator out of a cooler. Maybe that would better suit what you need size wise.

If it's just for a single clutch or 2, you can get a reptibator for around $115/125

You can't, building one is the way to go.

Mini fridge ~ free to $25
Flexwatt + clips and wire ~ under $20 delivered
Computer fan and phone charger to wire it to $10 or so
Water bottles to help hold temps stable ~ recycle :)
Herpstat proportional t-stat $115 or so delivered

    Total around $150-$175

The only drawback to this is they weigh a ton other than that they work just as good as any store bought rack IMO. Here are a few pics of some of the ones I built.

As for letting the mother incubate or putting the eggs in an incubator. I would personally say there is a far greater chance of the eggs having a 100% hatch rate incubating them with an incubator versus letting the mother do it. If you can't keep the conditions right in the tub with the mother on her eggs like heat and humidity there is a great chance that the eggs will not make it due to mold issues, not enough heat etc. Its a personal preference that I pull all the eggs from the mothers and artificially incubate them myself.

Well it's 3/4 inch melamine and at my local home depot they have pre cut melamine with the edging already on it. The shelves I use are 16" x 36" and then the sides are 16" wide by like 84" maybe longer you just cut them down to the heigth you want/need. All it takes is to screw the sides to the shelves and run the heat tape and your done. I show how I do it in this vid...............
