Hermaphroditic Snakes?

    A friend of mine has a weird gargoyle gecko.

    It not only has what looks like a large hemipenal bulge, but it also has what look like very visible pores (a trait found in males, and used to sex juveniles that haven't developed a hemipenal bulge).

    From all outward appearances, this gecko looks male.

    However, this past year, it started laying unfertilized eggs.

    A friend has a snake with perforated hemipenial homologs is this a possibility? The probe would enter quite far on one side and not so far on the other. Just a thought.
