    Re: Has anyone used hatchrite?
I used it last year and since it was my first clutch, i was really paranoid. Around day 40 i started putting in a table spoon of water in the corner once / twice a week as the package suggested. I will use it again.

I hear its easier to recover from a mild dry situation than an egg to wett situation.

Someone suggested putting a cup of water in the bottom of the incubator to help with the over all humidity. I figure im about 40 days from eggs this season, and i just received my shipment of Hatchrite..

    Lets keep our fingers crossed..

I bought the bag. I opened it. I looked and felt the product.

    I threw it out.

I'll stick with perlite for my crested geckos, I've had great success just controlling humidity myself with water content.

From watching SnakebytesTV it seems BHB uses it for all of their python clutches and a vermiculite mix for the colubrids. I'm not gonna say they're the final word on breeding, but considering the volume they hatch yearly, it obviously works well enough.

The type of tub you use it in matters I think.
I used it my first season with tubs that had several holes for ventilation and the stuff dried out quickly and I had to add water constantly to keep the humidity up.
Maybe in sealed tubs it would work fine

I switched to vermiculite and substrateless method and will not be using hatchrite again..

i was wondering with all the methods that are cheap and substrateless why even use ones with substrate whats the big plus?

I have used it numerous times, and it works great. I used 6quart tubs without holes, and did not seal them. I just put the lids on the tubs.
